Privacy

This page explains what Cultballer keeps about you. In short: there are no accounts, and we never know who you are. The game server keeps only how many guesses each game took and how people voted, to show everyone’s totals.

What your browser stores

The game saves your progress in your browser’s local storage, in an entry called swf:v1. It holds:

• your guesses for each day’s puzzle, so a reload doesn’t lose your game;
• for each finished game, the answer card and your vote, so they still show without a connection;
• your stats: games played, wins, streaks and how many guesses your wins took;
• whether you’ve seen the how-to-play card.

A second entry, swf:pid, holds your anonymous ID: a random code like 3f2b8c1e-… that your browser makes the first time you play. It isn’t linked to your name, email, device or anything else about you. It is only there so the same browser isn’t counted twice in the totals.

To delete all of this, clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings. You’ll get a new ID next time you play.

What the game server receives and keeps

To check each guess, the game sends the server the puzzle number, your anonymous ID and the names you’ve typed for that puzzle. The names are checked and then forgotten: they are never stored.

The server keeps only:

• for each finished game: the puzzle number, your anonymous ID, how many guesses it took (or that you didn’t get it), and when;
• your vote on whether the player was streets-worthy or overrated, stored the same way.

These are only ever shown as totals, like “31% of players got it in 2”. We never store your name, your email, your IP address or an account, and we can’t tell which records are yours.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any website’s host, Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver the pages to you. The game itself never records it.

Analytics

The site doesn’t use analytics. If we add a service to count visits, we’ll name it here and say what it collects before it goes live, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Advertising and cookies

The site doesn’t show ads or set cookies. If we add advertising, such as Google AdSense, the ad provider may use cookies to show and measure ads. We’ll update this page first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
